Kalahari to Moremi Photographic Safari (13 Days)

From Desert Silence to Delta Life | Botswana’s Most Diverse Safari Experience

This 13-day photographic safari is a journey through Botswana’s most contrasting and compelling landscapes from the vast, silent expanses of the Central Kalahari to the life-filled waterways of the Okavango Delta.

Designed for travellers who value time, depth, and authenticity, this safari delivers more than sightings. It offers a slow, immersive experience where wildlife, light, and landscape come together to create powerful photographic and personal moments.

What This Safari Is Really About

This safari is about contrast, isolation, and evolution of experience.

You begin in one of Africa’s most remote wilderness areas the Central Kalahari where wildlife is sparse but dramatic, and every sighting feels earned. Then, as the journey unfolds, you transition into Moremi, where water brings life in abundance.

It’s a progression from minimalism to richness, from silence to sound, from vast horizons to intimate wildlife encounters.

The Journey, Day by Day

Day 1 – Arrival in Maun

Arrive in Maun, Botswana’s safari gateway, where your professional guide welcomes you and transfers you to a peaceful riverside lodge along the Thamalakane River. This is a gentle introduction to the safari, allowing time to unwind, organise camera gear, and settle into the slower rhythm of the bush. After a comprehensive safari and photography briefing, enjoy the lodge’s relaxed setting birdlife, river reflections, and soft evening light provide your first photographic opportunities. Day 2 – Into the Central Kalahari (Passarge Valley)

After breakfast, depart in a fully equipped 4×4 safari vehicle into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The transition is immediate settlement fades and vast, open wilderness takes over. En route stops allow for refreshments and spontaneous sightings, turning the transfer into your first true game drive.

Arrive in Passarge Valley, selected for its remoteness and predator activity. Your mobile camp is already set in a prime location, offering comfort without compromising immersion. After settling in, head out on an afternoon drive to begin reading the landscape fossil riverbeds, golden grasslands, and endless horizons while your guide introduces tracking techniques and local ecology. Return to camp for dinner around the fire beneath expansive night skies.

Days 3–4 – Passarge Valley Immersion

Two full days are dedicated to exploring one of the most remote regions of the Kalahari. With minimal vehicle presence, this is a truly exclusive experience focused on patience, positioning, and understanding animal movement.

Morning drives begin early to take advantage of cool temperatures and active wildlife. Your guide tracks black-maned lions, cheetahs, and other desert-adapted species, interpreting signs and behaviour to position you for meaningful encounters.

Sunset sessions are particularly powerful, capturing silhouettes, dust, and colour transitions unique to the Kalahari. Evenings remain relaxed and immersive, centred around the campfire and the quiet presence of the surrounding wilderness.

After a final morning game drive in the Kalahari, begin the journey back to Maun. This transition offers time to reflect on the desert phase its stillness, its scale, and the intensity of its wildlife encounters.

Arrive at your lodge for a comfortable overnight stay. This pause allows you to rest, review images, recharge equipment, and prepare for the next phase of the safari where water transforms the landscape entirely.

Day 9 – Into Moremi Game Reserve

Depart Maun for Moremi Game Reserve, where the environment shifts dramatically from arid plains to lush floodplains, woodlands, and waterways. This change marks a new chapter in the journey.

Days 10–12 – Moremi Exploration

Exceptional on all fronts. We have done a few African Safaris in multiple country locations and this Botswana trip was by far the best experience we have had so far. Lucas and his team were absolutely top notch in all respects - bush knowledge, hospitality, food quality and presentation, camp set up and comfort made this mobile-safari a trip of a lifetime. We arrived as clients and left as lifelong friends and the memories will last a lifetime.

Wild for Game Safari delivered! Just back home from a 10 day private (just the two of us) safari from Maun to Kasane, taking in Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Concession and Chobe National Park. This was a mobile safari, camping in the bush - all managed by the simply wonderful camp staff who looked after us so well. Our private tent was very comfortable, the outdoor shower under the stars a highlight, the drinks round the fire in the evening relaxing, and meals in the dining tent always delighted us. The camp chef, MD, performed miracles over an open fire and we were truly spoiled. This was our 6th safari so we were prepared for the bumpy roads, dust, and the challenge spotting wildlife. Our guide Chris was very knowledgable about the animals and birds, worked hard tracking the cats we’d come to see, and importantly was a safe and respectful driver. In fact the drivers we met in Botswana were all highly professional and gave other vehicles, and especially the animals, space - this is not always the case in other countries. With a great guide, and lots of patience, we got to see the leopards, lions, and cheetahs we’d come to see, as well as wild dogs, and the wide range of animals in the plains, woodland, and delta environments. We were dropped off in Kasane at the end of the trip with full memories - ours and the cameras! Well done to Lucas and his team!

Amazing Experience with Wild For Game Safaris It was our Honeymoon, we had an amazing safari experience in Botswana and couldn’t have asked for better service. We were lucky enough to see almost everything we had hoped for, with the only exception being a rhino, which is understandable given how few there are, we did see a live Cheetah Kill which was amazing. The wildlife was incredible, the scenery was beautiful, and the whole experience was very well organised from start to finish. The service was excellent throughout, and the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, professional and always made sure we were comfortable. Lucas is extremely experienced and knowledgeable, you could ask for a better guide! It was a truly memorable trip and one we will never forget. I would highly recommend this safari to anyone visiting Botswana. Wild for Game Safaris a extremely professional company.

Trip of a Lifetime My wife and I have just completed a 12 day safari with Lucas and his team from Wild For Game Safaris. We had a truly amazing time and they made it a trip of a lifetime. 10 out of 5 is a closer rating. We travelled to the Okavango Delta in Botswana taking in Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Concession, Savuti before finishing in Victoria Falls. We were two couples on the safari and travelled in very comfortable, modern, purpose built safari vehicle. Everyone had a great view. Lucas is an outstanding guide, very professional and extremely knowledgeable. He is a very competent photographer so knew how to position the vehicle for the best light and views. He knew where to find a huge range of animals including the hard to find, such as leopards and painted dogs. We couldn't ask for a better choice. Each day had a new highlight. His camp team were exceptional. Tents and facilities great and the cook was a wizard. He produced a huge range of exceptional meals from a open fire and camp oven, delivered with a smile and a "yup yup". We are still on a high from the experience and without hesitation recommend Lucas and Wild for Game Safaris. You cannot make a better choice.

Epic Moblie Safari Trip in Botswana We just returned from an incredible mobile safari with Lucas Tshupo, the owner of Wild for Game Safaris. As wildlife photographers, we have spent a lot of time in Africa. Our 10-day safari with Lucas was one of the best trips ever! Lucas is also an accomplished photographer, so he understands the importance of positioning the vehicle for the best light. He is an expert at tracking and locating animals, and he shared his expertise with us, teaching us what to look for in the bush. Perhaps what we liked most about our time with Lucas was his passion for all aspects of the bush and his deep respect for the wildlife that inhabits this area. He never wanted to compromise any animal's welfare just to get a photograph, so our time with wildlife was intimate yet deeply respectful. We loved being in the camp with no other people. Lucas has an incredible team that only enhanced our mobile experience. The chef, Mosa, was simply amazing. The food was superb, and we were amazed that he baked fresh bread every day and prepared healthy, delicious meals. Matengu (MT) and Chaz never seemed to rest and made sure we had warm shower water, fresh water to fill our bottles, and hot water bottles tucked into our beds each night. These three men made our time in camp very special and were so much fun to be around. We highly recommend taking a trip with Wild for Game Safaris. There is something extraordinary about sleeping in a tent in the bush and hearing elephants trumpeting, lions roaring, and, of course, hyenas' vocalizations. We wish we had booked a longer trip!

Unforgetteble Botswana Safari from Maun to Kasane Unforgettable Botswana Safari: From Maun to Kasane in mobile camp! An unforgettable experience, far from the crowds of mass tourism! We spent 8 nights on a mobile camping safari from Maun to Kasane with Wild for Game Safaris, owned by Lucas Shupo. Sleeping in tents in unfenced campsites deep in the wild heart of Botswana, surrounded by the night sounds of the bush—with lions roaring, elephants trumpeting, and hyenas laughing—was truly thrilling. We crossed the diverse ecosystems of the Okavango, from the rich wildlife of the Moremi Game Reserve to the wetlands of the Khwai Concession and the more arid landscapes of Savuti. Every single day brought spectacular sightings: leopards, cheetahs, lions, elephants, hyenas, and African wild dogs. The team was really professional and exceeded all our expectations: • Our Guide, Owen: Extremely knowledgeable, professional, and passionate. He knew how to read every single track on the ground and always positioned the vehicle perfectly for photographing and observing the animals, while always ensuring our safety and sharing fascinating insights about the ecosystem. • The Chef, Mr. P, and the Food: Outstanding quality. It is unbelievable how the chef managed to prepare such high-quality meals using only a campfire. From fresh bread, muffins, and cakes baked daily in a bush oven to exquisite dinners under the stars, the food exceeded every expectation. • The Camp Staff, Empty and Chack: Incredibly hardworking, attentive, and warm. They anticipated our every need always with a smile, making us feel completely looked after in the middle of nowhere. Thanks to Lucas for the flawless logistical organization: the camp was efficiently moved and set up while we were out on safari for the entire day. Great attention was paid to cleanliness and details. Our Meru-style tents, featuring real and comfortable beds, were meticulously prepared with fresh linens every two days. Returning from a game drive to find a spotless tent, fresh towels, and a hot bucket shower was pure comfort. If you are looking for a unique experience, this mobile safari offers the perfect balance between adventure and modern comfort. You are completely immersed in the wild African nature, but with lodge-quality service, excellent hygiene, and outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended to anyone who loves pristine nature!

“Phacochère” he shouted! You will only regret not going! Lucas’ adventure from the punctual border meeting point in Zimbabwe to Maun was truly remarkable. Beyond wildlife tracking and sightings, we highly recommend the mobile tented camps experience. Travel in a super-equipped and comfortable land cruiser, feeling like you’re at home in cosy tents with everything prepared. Musa, the chef, baked daily bread and muffins in an aluminium box over charcoal – a real treat! We’re incredibly grateful for this dream family adventure. Sharing this trip with our local hosts was so enriching. Don’t hesitate, contact Lucas and book your adventure, you would only regret not going

Private Safari - Exceptional Thank you Wild for Game Safaris, my son (Tom) & I had the most wonderful time. The team that looked after us, Owen (Guide), Mr P (Chef), 2 Meter & Festus (Camp Hand) are the best. So much I could say, but in summary: Owen's expertise as a guide was extraordinary, his ability to track and ceaseless energy to find wildlife is without boundaries. We were interested to see everything from the smallest dwarf mongoose & birds to the large cats, and we saw it all. Mr P ensured I returned to Australia a couple of kilos heavier. Preparing warm porridge and homemade bread for breakfast, 2 course lunch and 3 course dinner every day was something to look forward to. Always with a smile and passion to please. 2 Meter and Festus, ensured every detail was delivered to the maximum, their pride shone through when daily greeting us with warm hand towels and a drink, supplying warm water for showers and hand basins, hot water bottles in our beds, as well when required getting dirty to repair vehicle issues. The crew worked together with ease and seamlessly without effort. We chose to do a Private Safari and camp to maximize the experience, we were not disappointed. In my view this is the only way to achieve the best experience, the flexibility and freedom in the Safari vehicle to have a personal rhythm and schedule to explore as you choose is paramount. Wild for Game Safaris vehicle is perfectly set up to ensure comfort and photography logistics. During the 11 days we spent approximately 95 hours in the vehicle with Owen searching for and watching wildlife. We saw everything from the small critters like Dwarf Mongoose & Birds, General Game, and the all the sort after Cats - Lion, Cheeta & Leopard. Again, thank you Wild for Game Safaris, and the team that looked after us. We have started saving our pennies to plan for a future return to Africa.
